A two part workshop. First, we'll cover the basics of jQuery integration in CMS Made Simple™ using various examples. Then, the topic will turn to site optimization -- producing sites in CMSMS™ that are light, powerful and robust.

Hour 1 -- Optimize to succeed

  • Intro – overview and theory of why to optimize your site
  • overview on tools. Where to get them what they do.
  • The pitfalls of CMSMS™ and setups and how to avoid them
  • From idea to design to production, optimization of your site stats at conception.
    Determining your targets, you budget, you skill level, and designing to fitting
  • using the tools to speed up you work, and optimize in your workflow

Hour 2 – Working with jQuery under an Optimized site

  • My Favs and why you only need one library
  • Adding jQuery, and doing something.
    a. –Add jQuery validation to forms
    b. –Add jQuery lightbox and why to avoid just any old one
    c. –What to look for when choosing a plugin
  • using the tools to speed up you work, and optimize in your workflow

Hour 3 – CMSMS™ modules, jQuery and you

  • Using module_custom and jQuery to get bullet proof client setups
  • When are you using too much javascript.
    a. Why @font-face is better than a JS option
    b. Why and when you should avoid js depended designs
  • jQuery and news for a cycling display.

Hour 4 – trial and error

  • how to work thru errors in CMSMS™
  • Q&A
